Meet the Artist
Ela Bochenek - self taught abstract painter, born in Poland and living by the seaside town of Scarborough, England
Art has always been part of my story. My creative journey has taken me through many mediums, but acrylics and mixed media are now at the heart of my work. Using materials like modelling paste, coffee, acrylic inks, and often natural tools such as flat stones and twigs, I create textured, layered pieces that reflect the twists and turns of our lives.
I create from my home. From a cosy corner full of energy where I also practice yoga, meditate, and exercise. This intimate and quiet space shapes my process, allowing me to live with my art, constantly reflecting on its next steps. Sometimes, I create for hours, and sometimes, it’s a fleeting moment—adding a simple line or a brushstroke as I pass by.
My creative approach mirrors my personality. It is intuitive, a little rebellious, and open to the unexpected. Letting the process lead, and breaking and inventing the rules - that’s where I find my creative freedom.
For me, creating began as a healing process, a form of therapy. But over time, it has grown into so much more. It’s an alive part of me that needs to exist. It is my soul’s language.
Thank you for taking a moment to step into my creative world—it’s a joy to share this journey with you.
